Iziko Museum

Well yes the Windell's have become cultured, as we entered the Iziko Museum, and felt a little like walking through the scene of " Night at the Museum." Really was blown over by all the different exhibitions on display!

Here you can see who is enjoying (Josh) the size of the Shark and who is not (Jesse)

The whole family really enjoyed our time at the museum, and was nice to be able to see all the different aspects and the variety of exibitions available. We also spent some time at the Company Gardens feeding the squirrels which is in the same area as the Museum. All in all it was a fun filled day for us all, especially Jesse with seeing all these huge animals and weird paintings on walls, and video clips, and these figures that Jesse spent sometime talking to who did not even acknowledge his presence and he wondered why?

Jesse absolutly loved the dinosour section and could not get over how many there were and had to tell everyone in the museum about how he likes them. At one stage he wanted to climb over the exibite's wall to pick up a furry mouse display becase the dinosour was about to eat it, and he didnt want that to happen!

The first phase of this exciting exhibition opened two years ago and included a huge skeleton of a herbivorous dinosaur called Jobaria, as well as the massive skull of the carnivorous dinosaur Carcharodontosaurus. The entire exhibition is about to open and now includes the skeleton of a weird-looking large carnivorous dinosaur called Suchomimus, as well as beautifully crafted dioramas of dinosaur scenes. The exhibition provides the complete story of dinosaurs, with supporting fossils on display. The emphasis is on dinosaurs that lived on the land that now makes up the African continent, from some of the oldest known dinosaurs discovered from fossils in South Africa, to some of the largest dinosaurs, known from fossils uncovered in Niger and Morocco.

We really are living in an amazing place and love getting out & about the city of Cape Town to see and experiance all that God has given to us
